Ambica is the work of a single family discipline — an inspiring idea born in the mind and heart of Dattatraya Shivaji Thorwat, a farmer's son turned builder, in 1962, who built it into Ambica Constructions. Six decades on, his son Shrinivas carries the name forward as the founder of Ambica Realty.
A vision held at the top and lived on the ground — active participation at every level, and a sense of pride passed down rather than delegated.
Clear roles, open lines of communication and rapid, quality decisions — a cohesive unit built to synchronise manpower, material and schedule.
Modern method, skilled hands, superior material and constant supervision — quality never compromised, delivery never delayed.

Before the renders and the launches, there was a site, a crew, and a man who would not leave until the work was right. The discipline that defines Ambica today was set here — in the dust, by example.

When I began in 1962, I had no company and no name to trade upon — only a conviction that a thing worth building is worth building properly, and a refusal to hand over work I would not be content to live in myself.
We never chased size. We chased soundness. We sourced our own material, checked it with our own hands, and finished what we promised within the time we had given. That is the whole of it. Everything Ambica has become rests on that small, stubborn discipline.
What I pass to the next hands is not a company. It is a standard — and a name they are answerable to. Build well. Build true. Let the work speak long after the builders are gone.
The hand that set the standard
Born a farmer's son, Dattatraya Shivaji Thorwat carried the land's patience and discipline into everything he built. Ambica took birth, as an inspiring idea, in his mind and heart as early as 1962 — while he was working with the Public Works Department under the aegis of the Government of Goa. He went on to found Ambica Constructions, and many of the iconic structures that stand tall against Goa's serene backdrops today are testaments to his unparalleled expertise.
From that foundation he built Ambica as an organisation sought for one thing above all: the quality of its work and the certainty of its delivery. He led from the ground — sourcing materials himself, checking them, and holding every site to the same uncompromising line, project after project, for close to four decades.
The hand that carries it forward
Born in 1982 — the year of the firm's first signed project, Shrinivas Apartments — Shrinivas Thorwat was, quite literally, born into the family business. He learned the ropes from his earliest years, on his father's sites, and has nurtured that inheritance into the identity Ambica Realty carries in its most magnificent form today.
In a quiet echo of his own beginning, he marked his first project with his son's name — Vikramaditya Apartments — continuing a family tradition of raising an address for the next generation before it arrives.
His ambition is to honour the founder's legacy while pushing the envelope — building sustainable, first-of-their-kind projects that others said could not be done. Under his leadership Ambica has expanded beyond Goa into Karnataka, and beyond construction into hospitality, retail and the entertainment and cinema business — a breadth distilled into the firm's most ambitious address yet, Oslo Haven.
They said it could not be done here. So we did it here first.
The Ambica Way
From the first signed project in 1982 to the launches of today — a selection of the homes and landmarks raised under the Ambica name across South Goa and beyond.
And today — the completed villas of Brisa Marina, the bespoke sky villas of The King's Court in Belagavi, and the hotel-ready investment suites of Oslo Haven at Benaulim. Alongside, decades of residential and commercial complexes and infrastructure works delivered across Goa.
